Dear friends,
It was great seeing some of you at the Welcome Tea yesterday:) Don't worry if weren't able to come, I'm sure we'll bump into each other at some point! As promised, we have some very exciting events lined up for you, starting next week:
MEDITATION led by a theravadin* monk Ajahn Santhong
when: Monday 13th October
where: Room 2B ULU[http://www.ulu.co.uk/content/index.php?page=1302]
time: 6.30pm+[come whenever your classes finish!]
*snacks& refreshments will be provided*
Yesterday, I also mentioned one of the volunteer projects that i am quite involved with-below are some info of how to get involved:
* Repaying the Kindness* More info: (http://www.jamyang.co.uk/repayingthekindness.html) This is a really fantastic secular programme stemmed from compassion and is designed to provide respite for carers who are looking after an ill family or friend. The programme itself is very flexible and if you are free for just a couple of please do go along and check it out. Just simply click on 'download a copy of our autumn programme' and note which of the events grab you! I have been on several occasions and have found it a very worthwhile, meaningful and above all a fun thing to do! I should also mention, they provide you with a delicious 2-course vegetarian meal and introductory Tai Chi training. Additionally, all travel expenses of up to £4 are reimbursed. So if you are interested in putting that fantastic smile of yours to use; practice some compassion-one the most important and (in my view joyous) percept in Buddhism and to make someone's day, then please contact myself (ruo4u at hotmail.com) and or them directly at (repayingthekindness at yahoo.co.uk )
Also, we are really looking for helpers this year to help out and get involved in the society. If you could spare just 10mins of your time and would like to help then please do drop me an email-i'd love to hear from you:). Finally:
Reminder for Membership forms: We will keep collecting membership forms this week, so if you have not got round to signing up yet please get a ULU card and a form from us. Forms are available at all our events. Forms are also available at http://ulu.co.uk/files/Sports_and_Societies_Membership_form_2008_2009.pdf . Remember there is a £4 deposit or donation. Hand the forms in at our meeting or ask reception to put them in our pigeon hole. Deposit/donation can be paid to us at a later date if you cannot come in person. Thanks a bunch:)
Have a fab week!
Lots of metta (loving-Kindness)
